I’m Dominic. I build websites for owner-run businesses across the UK.
BrandOr is me, from a desk in Bournemouth, hand-building sites and now running the lead service for owner-run businesses anywhere in the UK. There is no team behind the scenes and no one offshore. If you ring, I answer.
Where it started
I was the customer first.
Before any of this I was a dryliner. Ten years on site, in vans, alongside plasterers, builders, sparkies and plumbers. Good people doing excellent work and losing jobs to firms with better websites, or with any website.
Every one of them had a story about paying for a site and getting nothing back. So the belief on site was that websites were a con, marketing was luck and SEO was snake oil. I half believed it too. The sites on the Work page are the argument against it.
That is the whole reason BrandOr exists. Not to make things look nice, though they do. To make the phone ring for people whose work deserves it.
Where it is now
Not just trades any more. I build websites for any owner-run business that wants more enquiries.
The first sites were for the trades because those were the people I knew. Then a bridal makeup artist asked, and a takeaway, and a football academy, and a home-cover company, and a consultancy. The problem was the same every time: good at the work, quiet phone.
So the audience is now simpler to say. Owner-run businesses in the UK. The person who answers the phone is the person who does the work, and they would rather be doing it than marketing it.
That is also why Leads exists. A website starts the enquiries. Keeping them coming is a monthly job, and it is a job most owners do not want. I do.
Apps are a permanent part of BrandOr now, and I enjoy building them. Phone apps and web apps, built the same way as the sites: by hand, for one business, and yours once they’re paid for. The first ones are still being finished, so they are not on the Work page yet. When they can be shown, they will be.

How it works
Three things I will always do, and one I will not.
I write it for your customer. Not for you, not for Google, not for other designers. The person about to ring. Then I read it back to you before it goes live.
I build it by hand. Every line. No theme, no page builder, no plugin that needs updating next month. A change is an email, not a ticket.
I tell you the truth about what will work. If I don’t think a new website will get you more enquiries, I’ll say so before you spend anything. If Leads would not earn its keep for your business, same.
I will not lock you in. The website is yours the day it goes live. Care and Leads are monthly and stop when you say stop, and if you leave Care, the site moves to an account in your name. The old site said “no subscriptions, ever”; that was true then and it is not true now, so it has gone.
